Feeling the need to replenish your soul? To join your neighbors in song? To take a walk down memory lane? Or maybe just to have a great time on a summer weekend? Join us on Saturday, July 1st at a Historic Revival, the first major concert to be held at the Elitch Theatre in over 20 years! Come together with friends and neighbors for a night of great music, throwback cocktails, and enjoy food trucks in order to raise money for the 2017 Sunnyside Music Festival (September 9, 2017) and youth arts initiatives.
The Sunnyside Music Festival is thrilled to be part of the revival of the Elitch Theatre, a cornerstone of the Denver community for 126 years that has seen performances from Grace Kelly, Sandra Bernhard, and Cecil B. DeMille. One of our board members even remembers seeing Ray Charles take the stage in 1989! The Theatre is opening its doors for its first major concerts since 1994, when it hosted world-renowned artists including Emmylou Harris and Dr. John.
Building on that proud history, this event will bring fresh musical energy to the Theatre. The Sweet Lillies will get the crowd warmed up with high-energy melodies and original Americana tunes. Then the old will find new energy with the Sunnyside All-Star Pickers playing “bluegrassy” versions of songs you can sing and dance to, featuring musicians from some of your favorite local bands including the DeadPhish Orchestra. Opening acts are The Sweet Lillies and, local youth act, Alyssa Michelle.
